Tackle
Distance
casting is not necessary at Caldy so a simple 2 hook flapper rig will get
lots of bait and scent out into the water. It will also give you the
chance to experiment with different baits. And don't forget the beads and
sequences, anything bright, flashy, rattley or even floaty. |
To right is a Sandy beach, with few snags. |

| Aim to fish 2 hours before high tide, it may be when you arrive that the tide seems miles out, however it is advised not to walk out to meet the tide unless you know the area, once in flood the tide will soon be within casting distance, it is also worth considering getting to the venue 3 hours before fishing, as during the busy periods this venue can easily fill up, if you are unable to get a peg, then why not try Thustaton or West Kirby further along the coast. |
To the left is rocky with possible snags |

Bait Rag always works well in the Dee and tipped with mackerel, it will catch flounder. However, when the the crabs start to peel then fresh peeler will be the top bait. |
