Kinmel bay

Postby Shaun1118 » Sat Oct 20, 2007 5:43 pm

Went to kinmel bay and fished the low tide 2 before 1 after. And caught about 13, 14 doggies and a whiting between me and my brother. For him it was a great session as we had almost a bite a cast but it started to p*** me off abit.

I was first in with a double head of doggys on squid

Next was gary with another doggy at 2lb 2oz

Image

The i was in with fair sized doggy at 2lb 6oz

Image

Then another big doggy fell to mackrel at 2lb 8

Image

I did manage to go out pumping with my new pump and for a hours hard graft didnt do too bad

Image

The main lug beds where still covered so i had to do with the casts in a gulley that was full of pebbles and rocks :?

Shaun, I tried Kinmel bay twice earlier int he year and blanked each time, although the last occasion I did have some thing on briefly.

My Lad Freddy wants me to cat a Dog Fish ( Dog Shark) as he calls them. Is Kinmel a good place to try?

I' a bit limited in getting on the beach and also casting very far. Would I satnd any chance close in and at high tide on Macky bait?

You got a good result there. Nice report. Thanks.

Theres a part where theres two deep channels one is accsesable on a hightide (but you got to go down steps and another you can get to on a low tide but you got to cross the first gully. They (if you know where they are) are the most produtive places.
But, you cant get there so you might need a good cast to get your bait near them but on a rough night they do come closer into feed. best time of year is april til september but they stay all year round ;)
Mackrel or squid baits on a two hook flapper with 1/0 or 2/0 wide gape hooks is your best bet 8)
SAFTY NOTICE: Kimnel bay if full of small gullys and is a fairly flat beach so it will fill very quickly. This means as you are in the tramper your even more suseptable to getting caught on a sand bank so i suggest you go with someone that knows the area well and take two planks off wood aswel case your wheels get stuck
