PERCH ROCK 21.8.09

Postby bootsy » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:05 pm

Decided to give Perch Rock ago with the reports of thornbacks being caught there i grabbed some sand eels out of freezer and popped to morton for some squid i set up 2 rods opposite the bouy both rods had 4/0 pulley rigs on with a sand eel wrapped in squid secured with elastic,it was a sunny evening with a strongish southwesterly wind.low water was at 1930 i was in the water for about 1800,i was joined on the beach by my wife, son and daughter about 1845 not long after one of my rods had the classic pull down thornie knock leaving my line slack after some hard work i pulled in a 6lb 14 ounce thornback :D :D :D

Image

my son Ben wanted his photo with me and my new pal thornie

Image

my daughter Emily went over to my other rod on my tripod later and touched it when i asked why she had done this she said it will be good luck Daddy and she wasn,t wrong as shortly later my rod was pulled right down and it bounced up to leave me with a very slack line after some hard reeling in i brought in a 7lb 11ounce thornie :D :D :D :D

Image

my wife soon went home with the kids and i stayed to about 2030 but didn,t catch any more fish but i went home happy :D :D

Nice fish. Fished there last night (tuesday) lad by us had a 10-14-0 that we weighed and someone further down had a stonker of 13 plus. One of the Wirral sea anglers had a 5pounder and i ended up with 2 ,4-5-0 and 6-14-0. good fishing
