Conger - Mission Accomplished

Postby MrMikey » Sat Aug 16, 2008 6:12 pm

I've always wanted to get a conger. Got my first one in Feb but it was so small it didnt really count.

Today was going to be the Day!

Set my alarm for 4 am and go to a rock mark to the left of Ravens Point on Treaddur Bay for around 6 am. The weather was awful and the wind so bad that I couldnt fish the mark I wanted ( The place I lost a huge one last week). Had a walk a little further towards Ravens Point and found a spot that wasnt too bad. I got my first Line out at 6.30, a full maccie on a size 10 with a weight on a little 10lb line, snaggy as hell around there.

After a 10 minute battle I mananged to get this little baby safely over the swell and up the rocks at 7 am.

I returned it and was left thinking.......... now what? lol I never thought past catching one and I'd only been ther 30 mins.

The swell was getting close to being dangerous so I moved over to a mark by the power staion and got a nice sized Ballan Wrasse.

Then had a go at Moel y Don

The wind was blowing the leads back into your face. All I had a was a doggie

Still, I'm buzzin to have got what I went for, pity it was no where near the size of the one I lost last week, but I'll be back!

Here's some pics of the remfurbishment to the the Seacroft on Treaddur Bay for anyone who's interested, please take note that you can no longer park there to fish the Flagpole, the path is blocked off.

Nice one matey :)
It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.

Nice eel Mick :) :) Just approaching the season for the big females.
Wifes looking at the pics and has noticed that she uses the same breadboard in the kitchen. Isn't life full of funny coincidences
