Got a Surpise call from Gaz and Lee couple fishing mates aint seen for a year..they were asking if there where any Smoothies around, told em 7 came out last sunday at the fish n'meet.
Anyway that was enough too convince Gaz who hasn't been out for a ages.
.
Waded across the gulley and walked the walk again.  :D

Where the smoothies there on such a big tide this time..??

Of course they were... ;) .. ..
Image
Gaz's first fish in ages.. :).A beautifully marked Starry of 5lb-3oz
.
.
Image
Seconds later my rod doubles over.. Nice fish on.. 8)
Result a 10lb-13oz-08dr Common Smoothhound for me. 8) (My first one of the year! and a double figure, I couldn't be more chuffed.. :) :) 8) )
.
.
Further down a few lads where into one.. so jogged over.
.
Image
.
Another Starry of 6lbish (i forgot the scales  ) 8) he caught it on a carp rod and light tackle... :D :D .
.
Just as i am returning back from taking the piccy Lee's bending into one.
.
Image
A cracking condition Starry!! , Look at her markings.. 8) weighed in at 8lb-9oz.
Image
Gaz in again with a Common of 6lb-5oz-8dr.. 8) ;)
.
Next up... Me again..
Image
A Smaller Common of 5lb-8oz.. 8) ;)
.
.
Lee's Rod Doubles over again. Good fish on ..
.
Image
Best Fish of the Day beaches itself a Starry of 12lb-5oz-8dr. 8) 8) ;)
.
Image
Gaz again a smaller Starry of 5lb-6oz.
.
All through the tide lads where catching along the stretch.

The ones that got away..

Lee had another take and had it all the way onto the beach 10inches of water.. i was just about to grab it, it flicked the hook.. . 8) It was a Common I estimated it at around the 10lb mark...
.
I had a classic Thornie bend and had it on most of the way in "dead weight" but suddenly went solid as it hit the bank , gave it a bit too much pressure and came off. looking at my trace the smaller of my pennel hooks was straightened. ..
.
And that was it..Tide had turned now and a few lads aready left..
.
One of those magic.sessions..8)
See you all on the bank. ;)
.
PS. We Had Dabs and Whiting also..  :D

Make a difference - take home 1 piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing.

At least you caught one! LOL, what a smashing report and pictures too. My lad calls this Hound Sharks and Dog Fish - Dog Sharks...he's seven and he finds the pics so exciting. Just been watching a DVD documentary on sharks and hounds are related for sure. It was very interesting. But now freddy 7 years old...wants dad to catch one.... eeer...oh heck..

Steven

P.s even a small one would be good! :) Nice session chaps.

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
