Holyhead Breakwater 09/02/08

Postby muzz » Sun Feb 10, 2008 3:45 pm

We all arrived at the breakwater at around 16.30 in attendance were Mr Mikey, Shawn L, Simon, Heather and myself.

First job Kettle on while we set up and then following Mikeys lead a quick scronge arond the rocks below to recover some leads. Good call as we must of recovered a handfull each + a crab net half a reel and an old kettle :D

I don't remember who was first in with a fish but it was pin whiting all around. Shawn had the first dog.

Whilst Heather was hitting the doubles.

Followed by a small dog for me not worth the piccy.
Shawn and Mr Mikey were targeting the conger all night but not much as yet.

More Whiting for all except for Simon who had the only Dab.
Then a dog for simon.

The Shawns 2nd.

It was on and off all night and we all agreed not one of the best sessions but at least no one had blanked.

Just after HW at midnight I thought i'd change to a conger rig and have one last chuck but over the other side onto the rocks.

Mr Mikey thought it would be a bad idea and did not fancy the tackle loss but came and joined me and within 10 min he had a strap conger.

Well that made his night and he was well chuffed as he hit what he came for.

A short time later knock knock and I had my first ever conger.

I was chuffed to bits and it made my night.

But that had everyone of us on the wall and the excitment was boiling over and you could feel the buzz in the air but sadly none showed and after losing a few rigs each we called it a night at 2am.

Mr Mikey and Shawn were up at the crack of dawn and off to a new mark. Hopefully a report will follow later.

Heather and myself stayed till high but nowt showing.

Till the next one.

Just to add although fishing was patchy at times it was a quality session and thanks to Mr Mikey for the lift , Muzz for the Brews , Simon for organising bait.
A top quality group of blokes and lasses( Heather)

Moved over by Ravenspoint from 8.00am till 2.00pm but the heavy swell kept washing rigs into the ledges and heavy tackle losses were incurred.

Fishing tally for the session was Shaun four pollock (best 2lb) and Mr Mikey nil fish and about fifteen lost rigs.

Once again a big thank you

Good reports, thanks for sharing.
Make a difference - take home 1 piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing.

Great to get out for a sesh even if the fishing was a bit naff. Good to put faces to the names on here.

That was the first time I'd fished around Treaddur without fresh rag, first time I ever blanked there as well. Wonder if thats a coincedence?

We fished about 400 yards to the right of Ravens Point, was that Paul Tucker on there?

Image

Shawn on the top after the swell forced us to high ground

Shawn hits a pollock to every 4 rigs lost, the swell was a nightmare

I know the strappy I got was the smallest ever but I was made up to get my conger, just need a decent size one now.

Great session in great company cheers all.

Mike
