Winter League Otterspool...18.11.07

Postby Shacky » Sun Nov 18, 2007 8:39 pm

Me and kammy arrived just about on time. After getting just slightly lost round Liverpool centre  The wind was icy cold from the east, but it did not deter us. First job was to enter for the WSF match. Then i set my Primo up to let shaun/ronald/gherkin have a go. He trotted off down the field to have a few casts, being egged on by the regulars ;) . Full points to him, No fluffed up reel (phew !).....

Image

We all made our way down to the river. Kammy decided a walk was not on the cards. So we set up camp at the first opening. Saving a place for JP as he would be late  The guys to the right had brought a umbrella

Image

Plenty of the WSF regulars to the left.....

Image

The all in was shouted, Not long after, Jags latched into a fish. This looked like a good start.....

Image

Jamie was soon to follow, also into the same stamp of fish.....

Image

There were Codling popping out all around us, plus the odd Flounder. But our Blankpool baits were doing no good :( . Jp finally appeared. Set up, cast in......Then not long after....This beauty of 4lb 13+oz. Caught on his frozen blackworm.....

Image

Still me and Dave had not had a bite and we were running out of ideas. It started getting dark, i changed my rig to one with smaller hooks, baited with just worm. It worked...................But undersized Whiting :(

Image

As the darkness decended, Whiting became more prolific. A large ship came by, which seemed to push the fish towards us.....

Image

People were still trying for that large Cod.....

Image

Kammy managed a couple of small Whiting.....

Image

Then time ran out. As did our luck :( . It was a great day non the less and the rain caught up with us. We are well made up for JP's win in both the BLAS Pier Cup and WSF Winter League Match.....Well Done John :)

It was amazing really. Top 3 places came from our immediate right & left. Me and kammy had fresh peeler and worm. Couldn't buy a bite early doors. It just goes to show fresh is NOT always best ;)
