Bites proved pretty scarce and the only fish of the day was a tea bag thorny....

TRIP 2
When I was asked by Steve (he'd also heard how the boats got on) if I fancied the long walk I felt a bit pessimistic but a decent forecast made me join him and Roy. On crossing the gulley it was immediately noticeable that the water was clearer, there was a nice south west breeze and optimism grew.
We got set up as quickly as possible and that first chuck proved to be important. Roy was first in......

But as he was sorting this out I had a lovely slack liner and had a great tussle with my first shore caught smoothound of the year......

The scales were unfortunately set in kilos after my last trip abroad but eventually held at 5.48kg My computer tells me that this is 12.08lb a really pleasing start to the summer season for me.
Roy was on top form and was quickly into more fish......

He managed a good species mix with another bass, whiting and dabs before he landed the days target.......

All in all a couple of enjoyable walks with good company and a few fish.
