The plan was to fish Kinmel bay Sunday night 28/8 low water was 4am, so would have left the house for 12am but was also toying with an early morning session at a the more local venue at Formby, by 9pm and a second glass of red poured the decision was out of my hands, Formby it was alarm set for 5am got my gear together and the blow lug I'd dug the day before, I was on the beach and first bait in the water for 6.10am there was a nice n/w breeze between 10 and 12mph which was giving a good steady surf nothing too big

with near identical conditions and same tide of 8.3mtr when I had my best bass of 4lb of here 2 years ago I new this beach can produce, the fishing was slow very slow but it was good to be out and have the beach to myself in near perfect conditions, nearly 3hours had passed and I hadn't had a sniff but I was still confident with the conditions that something could turn up, then the rod tip sprung forward then back again, could only have been a bass, and after a very spirited fight I beached it

it hit the scales at 3lb 14oz just 2oz shy of my best here

packed up 5 mins after that
