I've seen a Sealord for sale on Ebay which I'd like to have a look at. As it's a first boat I'd like to ask if there's anyone in the Southport area who knows what they are looking at who might come along with me and help me spot any issues ? I will be happy to pay expenses / buty a pint / take you out from Prestatyn in return.

Thanks in advance

the engine

1/make sure its cold when you look at it
2/ The gear box for clean oil, if it is milky there is a water leak on the oil seals.
3/Check there is a strong flow of water when the engine is running from the oops ie pee pipe.
4/have a Good look around and under the hood for corrosion.
5/Check the prop for dents/cracks and bent blades

hull

1/check for obvious dents and dings and stress crazing/soft spots
2/ Look for any delamination on the joint between hull and deck, cabin.
3/ Check the corners of the transom for any cracking and water into the plywood core of the transom

trailer

1/Check over the trailer for any signs of rust, flattened rollers.
2/Check all frame bits have not been twisted out of square.
3/Take a jack and lift up the wheels to spin them, listen for any noises/grinding
4/ try and twist the wheel on the axle. any movement in the wheel could mean the bearings are gone .

also they dont make the seahog sealord any more ;) a old boat but been good ones in there time ;)
