This huge stretch of beach has much better gullies than Lifeboat Rd,especially towards the top of the beach, and offers the chance of some good bass in the right conditions. An onshore breeze putting up a surf is usually preferable, and under such conditions it does`nt seem to matter between daylight/darkness. Spring tides give you the chance to pump the plentiful black lug prior to or while you fish around low water, though the pay off is that the tide floods quickly meaning you will be moving often if fishing early on as the gullies fill behind you. Medium size tides @27ft are big enough for you to pump blow lug(often better for bass than the big blacks) which are widespread, and you`ll have longer to fish in the gullies.
Chest waders are handy to have as you can cross gullies a little later on the retreat....short casts in to the surf are all that`s needed for the bass...other fish like flounder, dabs, eels, dogs, sole also show they they are not prolific.
Parking charges apply here with it being owned by the National Trust...£7.50 pay n display from dawn til dusk....fish early or in the evening to avoid this.
