Merseyside...Radar Tower,Seaforth Rocks...high water mark

Winter cod are the main attraction at this mark, though you will also take whiting and dabs....in spring/summer you can expect to take thornback rays and dogs. Unlike the rest of Seaforth Rocks you do not need a permit to fish here as you are outside the dock perimeter fence. To get the best of the cod action you probably need to get in to the deeper channel directly out in front, and as such getting as close to the perimeter fence is crucial as the further to the right you go,the further away from the channel you are....

Best fished on neap tides to avoid the very strong run and weed, though spring tides are fishable either side of high water (short session at the peak time is better than a long one at the wrong time).
The rocks themselves are not the easiest to fish from as only a few higher up are dry and safe underfoot, with the remainder being big, awkward and very slippy which also makes life difficult to land the better size fish on neap tides.

If you are tempted to fish on the dock side of the fence you will be seen on the cctv and have a visit from the port police so don`t compromise our access to this mark.
Fishing from the side of the rocks (facing Hall Rd) you will effectively be casting some 300yards out from the beach,if you know what i mean and some good rays have been landed from this side.
As with any rock mark you will expect to lose the odd rig...check your leader and rigs regularly as they will get damaged on the rocks during your session.
Getting There....
Head for the Freeport and go past the dock entrance along the A565 Crosby Road South...at the traffic lights turn left on to Cambridge Rd and follow it down keeping parallel with the Freeport perimeter fence...park up in the first car park on your left (do not go to the marina itself) and follow the path alongside the fence/marina to the beach (about 10 mins walk).
Parking charges apply between 10am and 5pm

Once you reach the sea front bear left towards two large gates which are usually unlocked (if not it`s a minor detour around them via the rocks) make sure you close the gates behind you....follow the track up to the radar tower and bob`s your uncle.

NB .It`s a 10 min walk from the car park and unfortunately you will not be able to see if any anglers are on the mark until you get there...it`s a chance you take.
