Merseyside..Crosby Beach At Seaforth....low water mark

Winter cod and whiting are the main quarry from here, though there`s always the chance of a ray too...summer sees hounds along with rays.Fishing spring tides (28ft+) 3 hours before low water to 90 mins after will allow you to put your baits in the main channel ....the bigger the tide the closer you will get to the channel as the tide ebbs...bigger casters will have an advantage early on as you`ll often need to get your baits out @100yd mark.
Standard beach gear/rigs will work...i use a 6oz weight to hold in the channel which has the odd snag due to mud banks/mussel beds...usual cod baits are the order of the day

There are no gullies behind you to worry about but the beach is fairly flat and once the tide starts to flood in earnest it will soon come up the beach...underfoot conditions are a bit muddy once you get towards the low water mark, but nothing dangerous.
[color=#BF0000]**Under no circumstances should you attempt to make your way out close to the rocks......there`s some very deep mud banks which are obvious in daylight but a different story after dark....when you reach the beach, carry on walking along the prom to the right until you reach a small slipway.....walk straight out from there and do not turn left until you reach the waters edge,or you run the risk of finding the deep mud ....if you`re new to the venue you will be wise to fish it in daylight to get your bearings

On big spring tides another section of beach appears on the main front of the rocks ,but if you go past the fence by the tower you will get a visit from the port police as that section is STRICTLY OUT OF BOUNDS
Getting There....
Head for the Freeport and go past the dock entrance along the A565 Crosby Road South...at the traffic lights turn left on to Cambridge Rd and follow it down keeping parallel with the Freeport perimeter fence...park up in the first car park on your left (do not go to the marina itself) and follow the path alongside the fence/marina to the beach (about 10 mins walk).

Post Code for the bottom of Cambridge Rd is L22 1RR...go straight on at the end of the road and head for the marina
*Fishing spring tides on the Liverpool side is very difficult from most of the river marks due to the tidal race/weed....to make the most of the session you can fish the low at Crosby then head up to Hall Rd (See venues directions) to fish the flood....plenty of chippys along the way*

Beaches can change from tide to tide so always be cautious on your way out....on my first visit this season i found a narrow channel straight out from the slipway and it`s banks looked fairly dodgy,so i crossed another 30 yds to the right just to be on the safe side.....every winter we get reports of people/anglers getting caught out by the thick mud,so don`t cut any corners and stay safe
