Mh Report: 5th round of NWASAC Personal Members Championship 2013,atc George Crane Memorial Match, Sun 9.6.13, Rock Channel, New Brighton (15 rods).
The hottest day of the year so far on Merseyside saw the anglers setting out amongst throngs of sun-worshippers but a beautiful evening on this low water channel provided bumper catches of plump dabs, flounders and plaice for the relatively small turnout.
The match developed into a battle between two local anglers in different zones, John S. Williams and John Waugh with John Williams taking the verdict by 410 gms over the Mersey master.
The absence of Bill Lindfield (whose long trip to a Silloth match early that same morning was rewarded with a win there) allowed old rival Joe Perry to close the points gap at this half way stage in the series.
It was a good day for John S. Williams who included the best roundfish, a bass of 42 cms in his trophy winning catch.
