Match Report: Mersey Anglers Charity Open

Postby heather » Tue May 14, 2013 9:09 pm

Match Report: Mersey Anglers Charity Open, Sun 12.5.13, Otterspool Promenade, Liverpool (48 rods)
The fishing at this popular promenade venue was well below par for May on a wet and breezy day. Flounders made up the bulk of the catches with a few eels, codling and whiting providing variety.Fleetwood’s Ashley Sampson has a good track record at Otterspool and this match was no exception; his 306 cms measure and release total took the win from well known local matchman, Bill Lindfield. Another Wirral angler, John S. Williams was third but the fish of the match was the 59 cms codling landed by Morecambe angler, Yilmaz

.The raffle after the match raised £206 for St John’s Hospice and the club thanks all those who donated prizes.

:Ashley Sampson (Fleetwood), 306 cms
.Bill Lindfield (Greasby), 259 cms.
John S. Williams (Prenton), 252 cms.

Zone A: Carl Edwards (Bootle).
Zone B: Mike Roberts (Sale)
.Zone C: Gary Hughes (Bangor)
.Zone D: Ian Brookes (Birkenhead)

. Roundfish Pool: Yilmaz (Morecambe), codling, 59 cms.

Flatfish Pool: equal Yilmaz, B. Lindfield & Steve Trish (Bootle), all flounders of 38 cms.
