On a fine evening, the low water sandbank 36 rods facing one of the Mersey Estuary channels produced dabs, flounders, plaice, whiting and a single very small thornback (which was just long enough to secure the roundfish pool for its captor, Brian Margetts!) to crab baits.
Despite a slow start, the dominance of the upriver Zone D soon became clear with the top three in the match on adjacent pegs in this section, the win going to former England squad member, Paul Molyneux with a measure and release total of just under 6 metres.
The league will be decided at the final round at Bromborough on September 2nd.
