Century TTS Mk1

Postby Richie Fisher » Thu Dec 24, 2015 2:21 pm

Just had my old battered Century Tip Tornado Sport re-built by Ross McKay (Rossco Rods). It was first sent to Century to have the spigots renewed and then sent on to Ross. It was rung for multiplier but I needed it to be my go-to rod in Fuerteventura so I had it rung for fixed-spool with kwags. I think you'll agree he has done an incredible job with it, I'm really over the moon!

The photos don't do it justice. For info to any Century users, you can get your spigots completely renewed with them for £25 and they look like you would find on a new rod

Looks like a top job Richie, you must be well pleased. Top builder is Ross...some of his work is outstanding.

Useful info re the spigot rebuild

Any of you lads use a TT Super Match, I'm thinking of getting one to use on the Mersey. Would it be suitable to chuck 6-7oz and bait, only short range.

Yep I have the TTSM mk2 Dave. I've pendulumed a 7oz with it and it handles it with ease. Plenty of power in the butt and mid-section, and a decent tip too. If you want to try it out before you buy you're welcome to borrow mine for a while as I only use it occasionally.

Thanks for the info and the offer Graham. I'm going to look at one tomorrow, was just a bit concerned if it would cope with 7oz. If you don't mind me asking, you say you only use yours occasionally! Is it a bit of a specialised rod?
Cheers
Dave

I wouldn't be afraid of chucking an 8oz with it to be honest Dave. It has plenty of backbone. I prefer my M4's for general fishing, I only use the TTSM for conger and tope now...though it hasn't brought me much luck with either!

I've got both rods. The super match is my go-to mersey rod as it's strong enough to cope with the river and decent sized rays. It's a great casting rod and has decent bite detection. The tts is everything I've just written, but a little stronger.
