Quick question.. ..can cod liver oil be used as an attractor or 'marinade for bait?
I was specifically thinking about some cooked mussels I have

It will depend on how processed it is.Sometimes they process the flavour and taste out of it.Also cooked mussels will have lost a lot of the natural flavours.I use fresh mussels minced up and put in a small swimfeeder.

You'd be better eating them.Collect fresh mussels off the supports of Seacombe Ferry at low water on the bigger tides.Freeze them and then defrost what you need. They open much easier.

I use Holland and Barret cod liver oil capsules as a tipping-off bait for blackworm, as you would, say with mackerel or razor fish. Had 50/50 success with them. Best to leave the oil to drain over the worm in my opinion. I could be mad though.
