i was just interested in what gets caught there in the winter

Don`t know anyone who fishes it......think the tide only reaches it twice a year

i remember going once in the summer and there was only 1 fella there he said he had caught loads of dabs it might be worth a try on a big tide

There has been a few asking about Southport Pier on the other forums since it was shown on the box with a few fishing it the other week.
Personally now it has been shortened a little and the channel has shifted i would rate it worse than cr*p. If it was any good the new Sea Angling Cub would use it and they dont!!
It was a top mark in the past before they rebuilt it especially in the winter at night after a good blow, but there is no night fishing now and daytime is limited.
If you fancy a challenge why not fish the deep gullies from low to high that are springing up all over Formby Beach. We fished it this summer with some promising results for Bass, Flatties, Dogs and the liners and netters further down at Ainsdale always do well in the winter for some cracking Cod, Whiting, Dabs.
We will definately be giving it a good few sessions this Winter.
