French success at last

Postby Maerig the hunter » Sat Aug 24, 2019 12:56 pm

Just got back from my annual month in France doing up the house but managed to get a couple of hours down at the top secret mark a hundred metres to the left of the big rock on Lodonnec beach in south brittany near Loctudy.
Image
I dig lug on low tide, mentaally mark the spot and fish over the hole as the tide comes up to high.
First cast a schoolie.Second cast a thumper and a big fight to pull in this gilt head bream of 55cm which weighed in at a few drams under 3 kilos.
Had to go straight back to the house to show the family and force them to eat it
End of all comments such as "it'd be cheaper to nip down the fish market and buy one" etc :naughty:

See y'all at Perch
2019 species: Whiting, bass flounder, 6 1/2lb gilt bream Oh Yes what a beaut monsieur!

Yeah won't be equalling that in a hurry. Great fight from an old fish. And the bream gave a good account of itself also

That's a cracker maerig!! You can't get fresher straight out of the sea . Had 1 a few years ago on St Catherines breakwater Jersey, my rod tip was just vibrating an brought a 2lb gilt head in. I love using blowlug as there full of juice as your speciman bream found out :D
Getting out fishing is good for the soul, catching is a bonus
