Perch Rock 23/8/19

Postby stephen atkinson » Fri Aug 23, 2019 7:24 pm

Thought id use the last of my peelers as they all started to pop yesterday, so instead of freezing them down as i have a 150 in the freezer already, i checked the tide times, 11am low water friday morning, had a rare morning off the work schedule, job booked in Ellesmere port 10.30am, sound happy days kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
Got to the fort for 7am, had me first bait in the drink for 7.30, a good 3 and half hours before low.

With the hounds thinning out, and it being 2.7 low tide, the tide would take time to drop off, so its best getting out there sharpish, and getting the bait in the drink, my fishing window was 2 half hours, so i was making the most of it.
First cast up an over rig, and the rod was bouncing, in the tripod after a hearty scrap, a 5lb hound was thrashing around on the beach.
Image

Had a rig ready to go, and after a couple of mins after casting out, had a 1 knock bite, knew it was a dog, all welcome in my short session.
Image

Had a rig ready to go, clipped it on, cast out, not long later a couple if tugs, new it was a ray and this little fella broke the surface.
Image

Was well happy 3 fish first half hour. A few others turned up about 9am.

Thought it was going to keep throwing up the goods but that was it, no other fishies shown an interest in the peeler, so made off to work at 9.50am with my fishing urge, Urged for now, with the tides for the weekend and the weather, be hard to park on the wirral, leave early get a bait in the water, and try and get a hound before they disappear till next year.

Great quick session ste, your right about getting on there as soon as, the hounds seem to be about early into the ebb. I went the other week abt 1pm after fishing Seacombe and I struggled getting a parking spec with the kids being off. Gonna try again on there next week so hope there still around
Getting out fishing is good for the soul, catching is a bonus

Good little session Steve, well done on the hound. With the settled weather forecast for the weekend, I am sure they will hang around for another week or so.
