Derby pool quick session.

Postby whistleing sands » Mon Aug 19, 2019 12:07 pm

had a bit of time too get out and have a quick fishing session in local.
so opted for a nice light tactic and target the plaice at derby pool Wirral.
outfit was 7ft lure rod small fixedspool 8lb braid 1oz bomb lead on running ledger with size 2 Aberdeen barbless main hook and size 6 barbless back hook for small soft baits.

bait was frozen black lug and peeler crab legs.

short video of the session https://youtu.be/yIuj2mqkRx0
I fish for the enjoyment I get out of it and the sport the fish provide ?

have a go Neil it is pure sport as good as it gets with fish of that size.

as regards getting them on a lure I have tried and tried no luck ? I have had them take isome worm and false shrimp but that's it.
we have had flounder on small spinners and 3" jelly worm .
I also get a lot of very small gurnard out in the same place on the isome worm or cockle / but don't get them on heavier gear .
I fish for the enjoyment I get out of it and the sport the fish provide ?

Interesting rig and well put together video, another way to enjoy catching different species using different tactics, I've heard of a lad who landed an 11lb bass off the groyne at perch spinning and mullet caught around there too , we're lucky to have great sport on our doorstep
Getting out fishing is good for the soul, catching is a bonus
