Happy days ( don’t ever normally post , but have filled the site for a good 10 years , ) I’m off myself today for some hounds , planned on the rock channel but might hit perch instead after reading this report Managed to get my hands on “ sea freeze “ frozen peeler from takers liverpool, will give them a go. Great hound by the way, that’s what it’s all about ,

Earliest I have tried for them at Perch. Normally have a crack at them mid/late August when back from holidays. They will then take squid and occasionally worm baits.
Pretty sure I would have blanked on the Smoothounds yesterday without crab.

What's the best rig to use for catching smooth hounds.

Any standard rig will do.Sharp 2/0-3/0 hooks with fresh bait will do the trick.
