Our efforts where rewarded with a few nice Hounds, Bass, Codling and Dabs.
First blood as usual went to Steve with a nice fish around 6lb but unfortunately no picture.
Good start to the evening.
I had a bite and an fish took off with power that I haven’t experienced in the Mersey before. It was insane and believe me I’ve had some big fish in my time. This was another level. After a few minutes I had the fish 50yds from the beach and my 25lb hooklength snapped halfway up. Tope, massive Hound, Conger guess we’ll never know but my money was on a Tope.
Anyway back out and go again.
Steve then landed another nice fish around 6-7lb

Our session was living up to its expectations with a couple of Hounds amongst the other

Not to be too disheartened after loosing the fish I carried on with baited breadth

And was soon rewarded with the best fish of the night. A stunning looking Starry at 8lb 3oz.

That really was last fish of the session as tide got too hard and just started getting hung up and loosing gear.
If anyone hasn’t had a Hound at high water yet I urge ya to go and give it a go as the fight off them is ridiculous. But please take a drop net and don’t drag em up the wall and take them to the steps to release them. DONT throw them back from the top. As for the lost fish, I’ll get you next time.
