Talacre Fri 31st

Talacre...the return

Had a couple of dozen crab left so headed to Talacre on the hope of a repeat of the previous visit

Got parked up around noon and made the lonnnnng walk.

Very strong breeze made it a bit uncomfortable, but got set up with two rods and chucked out a couple of crab baits

Slower start than last week, but on second chuck, a nice plump 39cm flounder

Then a dab, and then another flounder

No signs of the target starry smoothounds....yet. Noticable the amount of razorfish shells washed up (were'nt there Sunday)....thousands of them

Then a pup....only a pound or so..

A seal appeared, about 20 yards from the shore. Waited...moved down 50 yards to cast and up it came again.

Cast out and gave it 5 mins...no action. So moved about 200 yards down the beach (toward Mostyn)

First cast...

Really plump fish and gave a great scrap. Not sure if it was a female carrying pups?

Then...

Then both rods almost pulled out of the rest at the same time. The baits were cast some distance apart and at first i thought seal...but realised the lines were well apart. So got one rod in

And this on the other rod. This one took me up and down the beach. Great scrap and along with the earlier biggest fish, certainly my PB's

And finally a slightly smaller fish - 4lb i guess, Again, great scrap

By now the tide had turned and the breeze really picked up. Others on the beach started to leave and so i did the same

Final tally
1 dab (3/0 hook again)
2 flounder
5 smoothies

Very enjoyable session. Hopefully the run of bigger fish will start into June
Only here for the cod!
