Rock Channel Early doors

Postby stephen atkinson » Thu May 23, 2019 6:16 pm

Headed back out the Rock channel arrived at 6 .15am
Image
got across @ 6.35am and straight up to just below the bend, got set up, and someone else arrived not long after me.
Image
First chuck a fine plaice gobbled me peeler.
Image
Next chuck and me first of the year a little schoolie made an appearance.
Image
It went quiet after that with no interest for an hour or so, then i had a couple of these.

It was clear that there wasnt any hounds about going down to low water, and new that id have a chance once the flood started see if it bought any in with it, and 40 mins into the flood, had me first and last really good bite of the session and 3/4lb smoothy was beached.
Image
Think i will try again on the next set of tides, see if it brings a few more in.

You have to cross a stretch of water by the T-Groyne as the tide is ebbing.Great care is needed. It is then a 1.25 mile trek down stream. It is best to go with someone the first time. You have to make your way back 45 minutes as the tide starts to flood. It used to be the best place to catch hounds but they seem to be everywhere just now.Perch Rock over low is giving some good ones.Peeler crab is a must. The T-groyne is just down river from the Clown roundabout. You will see a marker post to the left of the T.People cross to the left of the marker post. As I said its best to go out with someone the first time.Chest waders are a must. There will be plenty of info on the site about the rock channel.

Yes. If you search Harrison Drive on google maps and look for a T shaped groyne. That will put you in the area.Just checked. Can only barely see the T as the tide is in.
