Talacre.18/05/19. Smooth Hound Hunt.

Postby starfish » Sat May 18, 2019 10:47 pm

.

The First Smooth Hound trip for 2019 got underway today at Talacre
it was very busy out there today as news travels fast there back. :D

The usual long walk out and find a good spot to fish for the day
settle in get the rods out and get set up and first cast and straight into the hounds. :D

Image

Only little Puppies under 3lb but it was quickly followed by another one
they were a very welcome good start too the hound hunt for this year.

Image

Dave Rad took a 40cm Bass first cast
and 3 hounds around the 3. to 4lb mark.

Image

Dabs and tiny pups were there
and they had no problem taking bit baits and big hooks.

Image

Image

The first good take of the day resulted in a Thornback Ray for. 5.10.0. :D

Image

Another good take and a better hound was out at last
no sooner had i beached that fish my other rod was jumping out the rod stand
and i now had two hounds out with the biggest coming in at. 4.12.0. :D

Image

There the rods goes again and a nice slack line bite and a better fighting fish this time
best of the day and came in at. 7.10.0. :D

Image

Image

I managed two more hounds after that and again around the 3. to 4lb mark
not a bad start with the hounds and a good first result for 2019. :D

It is a good mile and a bit through soft sand to get to the main point in front of the green buoy.... or where it used to be.

Yes Lee about the same, only difference you get better sand to walk on at the Hoyle after you have trudged thrum the soft mud at the top of the beach. If you don't fancy the walk I've been fishing more or less straight out from the car park.Had 5 there last Wednesday between 80 and 96cm,but only 3 on Saturday again over 80 cm,but had poorer crab on Saturday peeler but rock hard .Walk out. Keeping the yellow buoy on your right you should see apost at a angle as you get near the low water.don't go any further right than this, you can see the tide run in the channel to cast too.It looks shallow but drops off like a cliff .
