Weed monster and enormous tide. Apart from a tiny codlet that was the sum of 3.5 hrs this morning. Think there is too much fresh water in the Mersey at the moment for the cod, so will head to seaforth tomorrow as I have a day off work.

Used to see the effect of heavy rain on the cod fishing in the North sea. Fishing near the mouth of the Tay would be good unless there had been heavy rain. Ideal for salmon running the river , but poor for sea fishing. It was just a thought for the Mersey as yesterday I had 3 bites in 3hrs whereas week before the rod didn't stop bouncing.

Well had a shot at Seaforth rocks from 2.5hrs up and 1hr down. Good rolling sea but only a micro cod and 2 whiting. Lost a good cod that had taken a small whiting ( real head shaker) but it dropped off about 15m from the rocks. No marks on the whiting so I guess it had swallowed it. Will try again next weekend over low I think. Is the beach itself worth a shot over high?
