Perch Rock Suprise - 11/11/2018

Postby seaangler » Sun Nov 11, 2018 10:43 pm

Myself and Richie went on a mission to Perch Rock for Rays on this evenings Low Water.
when we arrived it appeared to be calm with hardly any breeze......
Image
Image
We noticed alot of Jellyfish about the place as we walked down to our spot....
Image
We were soon into the Whiting & Dogfish.....
Image
Image
Then the first pull down for me signalling the Ray i was after.....a tidy 5lb ray on a squid wrap and was well happy with that.....
Image
After my Ray there was not much more to be had apart from more Whiting and Dogfish.
Just as i was about to reel my Second rod in after my last cast there was a timid little rattle that appeared to look like a Whiting bite......how wrong i was......

Image
All Hell broke loose as i reeled into this 15lb 2oz beauty of a Conger Eel
What a Special moment this was for me and it is my biggest Shore caught Fish!!
Proper buzzing of it......until next time!
If people concentrated on the REALLY important things in life....... There would be a shortage of fishing rods and reels

Aryt Tom. They do live in the Channel at Perch and there are some decnt Conger to be had at this time of year. I know there are Conger lares down there. I was out roughly150 yds+ with a whole large squid bound with bait elastic on a 5/0 pulley pennel.
This one was swimming freely and fighting hard all the way in. My tip was proper bent double.

Excellent catch. It’s not surprising with the amount of whiting around. Could be one to target.
