Vale Park 7/7/18

Postby Ranny715 » Thu Nov 08, 2018 12:05 pm

Very wet session to start with but cleared up mid afternoon. Fresh black lug and squid the menu for the day in the hope of codling.
Turned out anything but with three Thornbacks, biggest 9lb 2ozs.
Couple of dogs and lost count of Whiting after a dozen.
Also this a small octopus put in an appearance on the beach after dark. Thought it was distressed but soon showed contempt by squirting my hand in black ink!
First visit to the Mersey since January but an interesting one.ImageImageImageImage

Cracking Ray that Ranny. Did the Octopus put up a fight?
If people concentrated on the REALLY important things in life....... There would be a shortage of fishing rods and reels

Superb Ray and interesting on the Octopus.

They require very stable water conditions to survive and don't like pollutants in the water.. great news for the Mersey!.... unless of course it got lost and dove out the water quickly when it realised where it was....

Yep very similar to my report early November last year. However two of the rays were caught on black lug which is a first for me.
Couple of anglers fishing to my left were also into the rays using black lug. No codling for them either.

Fantastic session...an Octopus....in the Mersey !!!!. I always thought they were rocky seabed critters.

Tried a side of small whiting but just encouraged the dogs!
