1st Cod Session for me.

Postby Big Hitter » Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:03 pm

Off down to Seacombe to my favourite Cod mark. Never produced last year but thought I’d go and give it a go as I’d heard there is a few about in the River.
Bait for the day was Blacks, Squid and a bit of Crab I had left.

So out it went at distance as usual. Little pull down and fish no1 arrived. Only a small fella at about 8oz but my first Cod of the year.

Decided to give this cast the big un and wellied it a fair old way.
Big pull down and slack line. Reeled into the slack and it was solid, anyway a bit of pulling and teasing out it came with the tell tale thumping of a decent fish.
Cod no2 arrived, weighed at 3lb 15oz.

Happy days for me.
Went quiet as tide slackened off but after a couple of chucks a slight pull down and the tell tale slack line bite.
In came Cod no3 at a shade under 2lb.

Decided to call it a day. Had the two bigger fish on blacks and squid and the smaller one on blacks and crab.
Loved my 1st Cod session of the year and now I’m chomping at the bit to get out again.

Cracking fish there Jamie. get in!
If people concentrated on the REALLY important things in life....... There would be a shortage of fishing rods and reels

Nice looking fish that Jamie  If you have belted it out there then that fish must have had to chase the bait downtide to get it in its mouth

 blast it uptide with a heavy lead and let loads of line out Adam. Holds a treat. Kinda like uptiding from the beach
Other than doing that your right, the Cod would need a motorbike to catch the bait
