Fireworks @ Cod Corner....4/11/18

Postby seaangler » Mon Nov 05, 2018 8:32 am

I woke up this morning with one thing on my mind...Cod! So with this in mind i checked out tides to see which venue a tide of 29ft would suit for Codling....Cod Corner of course, so got my stuff together and off I went on a solo mission.....

As darkness fell towards 6:30pm it was almost time for the finale of the session....

Not long after it started raining so I packed up and went home....Mission accomplished!

Thanks for that great report about the cod.
Last season was very disappointing on the cod front that around the Xmas time period I felt compelled to write to the environmental agency about the collapse in cod numbers .After being passed around to several departments I was eventually put in touch with a senior fisheries scientist who gave a number of potential reasons as to why cod numbers had fallen . This ranged from them being "late " to unusual rather conditions ..to global warming etc. There was no definitive specific reason as to the collapse in numbers that could be clearly singled out . Especially when you bear in mind that similar species such as whiting did not suffer as badly and were caught in usual numbers. The moral of the story and one that I wish to bring to your attention is that they are prepared to answer any questions you may have and also to listen to any fish reports or concerns that you may have . Tight lines .
