The Lleyn 6/8/18

Postby Richie Fisher » Wed Aug 08, 2018 11:34 pm

Bit of a last minute thing to go down to my caravan for some R&R.

Went to a pretty extreme rock mark in the hope of catching a tope but very quickly realised this was snag-city. I lost 5 of my 6 tope rigs in consecutive casts. I at least got chance to use my weapon of choice for Fuerteventura and The Skeleton Coast. It's the Akios Orion ld120 magged by Chris Macey. What a beautiful reel!

No tope showed but I changed tack and float-fished for wrasse and pollock.

I was rewarded with a few wrasse with these being the best two

1lb 5ozs

1lb 13ozs

I snared a doggie in the process which was quite unusual.

The "walk" off the mark was actually a long-long climb and my thighs are still in agony today!

It’s a pleasure just to be in that part of the country, catching is a bonus, I’ve got a feeling your new reel will be put through it’s paces, look forward to your reports Richie

Shame you couldn’t put a tope bait down without hitting snags but a result with the wrasse.
