Coastguard / Derby Pool LW session

Postby roy.s » Wed Apr 18, 2018 6:24 pm

Could`nt get to join Mr Duffy at Harrison drive for their HW session, so opted for a few hours at low tide in the morning. Fished out from the coastguard station from 2hrs before low ........
First two casts produced two plaice around the 35cm mark. With it being a big tide, the water in front of me was disappearing fast as the channel emptied out. So moved further down the channel and fished opposite the Derby baths, where there was a bit more water in front of me.
Plaice came on the feed again on the turn of the tide, with a couple of double shots of fish thrown in.......
Some decent sized fish showed around the 40cm mark.....

Ended up with 13 plaice, and as an added bonus collected about a dozen of these on low tide.

Surprised no flounder showed up, but no complaints on a lovely morning.
2019 species...….Dab, Whiting, Codling, Plaice, 5 Bearded Rockling, Flounder, Dogfish, Thornback Ray,
2018 species.......16
2017 species.......17

Nice one Roy  it does empty out very quick on big tides I normally get there just on low-water and follow it down
