Perch Rock Easter Afternoon

Postby stephen atkinson » Sun Apr 01, 2018 9:08 pm

With a fishing pass off the missus, after been pumping the 2 consecutive nights, I wasn't going to give it a miss, it was a toss up between Seaforth or Perch, had plenty of lug for a go at the coddos at seaforth, and be able to get a parking space or chance it at perch with it being the Easter weekend, and not be able to find anywhere to park, but would have a good chance of a ray, i chose Perch, full of optimism I arrived with plenty of time and got a parking space. Made the walk out at 3.20 and was first on the beachImage Not long after a few rods where out ImageImage The bloke to the right had a ray on his first chuck about 3lb, so they where about, but I didn't get a knock of any sort till 1 hour before low then a few gentle tugs, then a slack line and beached me first ray of the year, Image Thought there would have been a few more after that, but that was it
no other knocks of any sort and didn't see any dabs or whiting come out right along the bank, so packed up at 7.20, then noticed the lads to the left of me pulled in a decent ray, as I was going, hopefully get back in a few weeks see if it picks up a bit.

Me and my eldest son Phil were fishing to your left. Phil was using mackerel fillet on a pulley rig hoping for a thornie, and was rewarded with the one you noticed just as you were finishing your session. I've got a pic so I'll try and put it up later. I was on lug tipped with mackerel and had one rattle but nothing came of it and I blanked. We saw you catch yours, that was great for you and raises expectations.
