Perch rock 19/12/17.

Perch rock 19/12/17.

Certainly my last trip out on the perch for 2017 :D
I arrived at 2.45 and i got set up the conditions were very good with no rain and no wind for a change
and as i was baiting up i looked out at the green boyo and i had to look twice
as there was a purpose swimming about and not just one there were three of them out there hunting and diving about. :D

Two rods were out with the idea of fighting my way through the whiting and then hopefully finding the codling
the first cast produced the first double shot of whiting and that was quickly followed by another.

With the average size whiting being at around 27cm too 30cm i must have had 8 double shots just before the darkness came
and just as the sun set the dabs put in a very early appearance.

Now it was dark and the tide was dropping i quickly remembered why i dont like fishing there on a very big tide
every fish felt like it was a 20 lb lump of lead as the grips would just grip and drag back in with every cast
there was also alot off weed and junk to contend with and a battle with a sock just made my day

Anyway i just had too battle on with whiting after whiting
the three biggest were just at 36cm but no big lunkers for me this time.

And that theme was to continue for the rest of the sesion
just more and more whiting even the dabs were not playing in the dark
28 fish on one rod and 24 fish on the other was the total
and with two very tired and sour arms it was time to pack up and head home. :D

And yet only a few hundred yards up the river last Sunday and the whiting were nowhere in site

Interesting to see the porpoise though
Only here for the cod!
