Seacombe 10th/Caldy 11th November

Postby Ste Robbo » Sat Nov 11, 2017 6:03 pm

Having a 4 day weekend and the missus doing back to back 14 hour shifts instead of staying at home doing the dishes I thought a spot of fishing would be more entertaining! Me and me Dad decided to brave the wind and rain on Friday for a few hours in the river.. tide was ripping through and lots of weed coming down the river but we did manage 3 small codling 2 for me and 1 for me Dad! Wasn’t pleasant but you take the rough with the smooth!

Saturday I decided to fish somewhere other than the river as that’s all that’s seemed to be fished lately so decided on caldy to see if any flounders still knocking about! Got down there and was in two minds to make the walk to the water or wait.. I decided to do the walk!

Image

It paid off as first cast a double head of the targeted flounders

Image

Thanks to the man with the two annoying kids that kept prodding and poking my bait and looking in my box when my back was turned for the photo.... cheers mate!

The tide was soon in and pushed back up to the sand

There’s something about this place that I love! Maybe because it’s the first beach my dad ever took me fishing too.. There is a photo of me dragging my nappy through the sand somewhere

Just as I was pushed back to the top a good knock which resulted in a better flounder and the biggest of the session at 38cm

Image

Right on high water and last chuck topped the day off nicely with another flounder

All flounders caught on crab! A lovely evening spent at a venue that I absolutely love fishing and always seem to do well at! Now back to do the dishes before she’s home
