Perch Rock Sat 4th Nov

Postby Patriot » Sat Nov 04, 2017 8:54 pm

Quiet day
No football in Liverpool today, so traffic should be ok
Nice big Tide

Has to be Perch Rock then! Low water 5.45pm

A bit of a trial run before next weeks match. Chopping and changing rigs, baits and techniques - good bit of fun

Got down there for 1.30pm, strong SW breeze, but comfortable - at least at first it was

One other guy down just before me. Otherwise had the beach to ourselves

First cast and after about 2 minutes

Then this

And this

Image20171104_150014 by Jeff White, on Flickr

Not big. The Whiting were between 26cm and 32cm

The dab's around 27-29cm - typical for this beach

And .... 31cm Dab

Then the wind got up and a lot more appeared on the beach...

Then a diver appeared. Everytime it went down it came up with at least one small whitebait in its mouth. Must have only been 20 yards from the shore

And at last a decent Whiting. In fact the biggest Whiting i've ever had. Just over 42cm

There was me planning for next week. Dogfish as soon as possible then dab scratching...then a 42cm Whiting!

Then a double header of gold...biggest one was 30cm

And finally

Just a few photos. It was a fish a chuck and many double headers.

So as a practice, 42cm Whiting and a 31cm would have given me 73cm for next week - which may take some beating.

Having said that, i just know i'll blankety-blank next Sunday

At that point, the wind got up. Really got up. The pile of sand against the tackle box was replaced by a pile of hailstones

A second wave of hailstones came in, i decided enough. Before low water, but a thoroughly enjoyable session.

Roll on next Sunday
Only here for the cod!

Decent session mate
If people concentrated on the REALLY important things in life....... There would be a shortage of fishing rods and reels
