A weekend in the Highlands

Postby Degs the 2nd » Tue Oct 31, 2017 5:53 pm

Bruce and myself headed up to the highlands to the sound of Mull on Friday to fish the weekend hopefully chasing the skate
and anything else that was there,Saturday was slow with the big winds and drizzle but we had a couple of small spurs with Bruce
rounding the night of with a cracking conger of 22lb,and a big surprise when a couple of mates from Sunderland turned up out
of the blue to fish the same mark...chances of that !!,Sunday was more productive as the wind had dropped and we were all getting
into the fish, mainly spurs up to 10lb-3,pollock and the odd doggie and strappies with Bruce and Andy getting an impressive array of minis down
the side with Bruce getting the only skate run of the trip which dropped the bait, the power of the fish when it was on though was something
else.
A great weekend in a stunning part of the country with some good fish caught and the bonus of an unexpected meet up with Andy and Dave

Excellent report and photos

With fish like that, it certainly makes the long trip worthwhile
Only here for the cod!

A 9 hour drive back due to the most badly organised detour ever through Glasgow
I'd still do it again though :D
