Pensarn/THS

Postby Patriot » Thu Oct 26, 2017 7:00 am

Got the week off, so cramming in as much fishing as i can

Headed down to Pensarn, picking some outstanding fresh bait at Harry's at Rhuddlan.
Great shop, great service and loved the ABU 464 Zoom he has hanging on the ceiling. I had one forty years ago!

So headed up to Pensarn. Lugworm, Squid and tried a bit of ragworm

Conditions breezy but dry

Whiting and Dabs from the off

Every cast was a single or double header Dab or Whiting. Nothing huge, biggest dab was 27cm and biggest whiting 32cm. But good fun all the same

Stuck it for three hours over high water, then headed up to the Mersey.

Planned to fish Vale Park. Got there just after 6pm but a large group of kids hanging around the shelter and mine was the only car....

I SHOULD have went to Perch Rock, but for some reason decided on THS and park up at the pub

THS has never been a good venue for me and that continued.

Blanked! Baits stripped by crabs as soon as they were in the water. To the point when i decided to go, i had one baited rig and left it in the water for 2 minutes. Totally stripped!

Next time it will be Perch Rock!

Never mind, just great to be out

agree there it was no good on tuesday for me either
the crabs are far to active with the water temp still to high to slow them up
try again in a few weeks but i also thought it seemed much shallower than i remember it also
good effort and well done

Paul

Yes, noticeably shallower than i remember it being. Flat calm also, ideal or the crabs

Roll on Sunday

Just got to figure out how to catch a flattie at Otterspool. Will be interesting

Those yoofs were around when I fished there a couple of weeks ago. Just parked up the road by the houses with all the other cars.

Cheers for that Kev

I'll note that for future. When i fished Vale Park a couple of weeks back, the kids set fire to something in the shelter

Next thing fire engines were down and police helicopter going back and forward.

Still wished i had fished Perch though
