Talacre 15/06/17

The Long Welsh Walk

After fishing a match with WSF summer league a couple of weeks earlier and over 20 Hounds being caught I was itching to get back out and give Talacre another bash. With the tides, family and work commitments not working in my favour the 15th was my only opportunity.
Low was 10pm and a 2.6m so a small tide
I met the 2 Daves Radcliff and Roberts in the carpark by the pub at 6pm along with a few others that I know through work and new to fishing, and done the 1km walk heading towards the mouth of the Dee towards a green boy. It takes about half an hour to do this walk for some reason???
Got to the mark around 6.30 set up the lads from work and finally got my bait in the water a nice peeler crab in search of Smooth Hound. Dave Radcliff was in on his first cast I think

Image

A nice Thorny of about 6lbs followed by a Hound

It was a lovely sunny afternoon but the wind was bitterly cold and the location is exposed

Second cast and I was also in happy day!! 3lbs 2oz

Next cast couple of casts where Dabs

And the lads from work where being kept busy on the dab front.

Image

The next rod indication was defiantly not a dab with a good couple of sharp bends

Image

6lbs nice fish the bait was quickly back in the water and I was in again this was defiantly a better fish giving me a good fight all the way in

Quickly weighed couple of photos and off it went back into the Dee I was buzzing after catching my new PB 10lbs on the button

I finished off with another lovely looking 6lbs 4oz that actually gave a better fight but never took a photo!!

Dave Roberts had a Thorny up the other end along with dabs

It was a great session and every body caught

Talacre is a great venue that hasn't had many reports on any sites but I will be fishing it again soon.
It's also a location that should be respected
Know your tide times, don't fish it more than an hour after low???? (Not sure if that's correct or not but better to be safe than sorry) Have a compass, fish with somebody else, fully charge your phones. It's a remote area be safe!!

But I would recommend it and I will be fishing it again in the next couple of week

Excellent report and well done on the hounds. Is this place fishable on the big tides i.e. would a five ounce breakaway hold.
