Method sorted for Sundays match.

Postby Steve Duffy » Fri Jun 09, 2017 2:33 pm

Met up with Iank for a session on the Drive to sort out a method for Sundays match. It was bright with a strong on shore wind which churned the water into a mud coloured soup. These recent strong winds had dislodged 1000's of cockles and razor clam which the birds were gorging themselves on.A dog chased away all the birds from this patch of shells.

Ian got in touch with his coarse fishing roots and did a bit of quivertipping.

We both missed lots of bites from the off, presumably from small bass.I then connected with the smallest bass I've ever caught.Millsy would call it a specimen.

A change to a cocktail bait saw me bring in a chunky flounder just before high water. On the ebb the rod tip never stopped being still so home beckoned.Method sorted. Anyone who wants the method ask me on Monday.

nice one Steve [bonus fish] and a flat

good luck in the match
and if everyone does that option i would expect the sole to make an appearance seeing as the weather looks like it will keep the water colored for the next couple of days

A bit red in the face Steve and I don't think that the size of the Bass was to blame. The sea state looked spot on. Good luck for the match.

An interesting morning and good report Steve.

I think those small bass need some coarse fishing tactics, it's like trying to catch those quick biting dace on the Dee

Great report Ste, you're spot on about the schoolies Ian, had four tonight fishing local, they don't half rag the tip round, light quiver the way to go  , must admit, its great to see the small bass, real narks, had one flare its gills up at me and it was about 6oz
Just accept it, you'll always have sand in your car !!
