Everybody Luvs Raymond!!

Postby Richie Fisher » Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:29 pm

Yet another session down at Perch Rock this evening and very pleasant it was too. I counted 18 anglers out :o

Set up in position no.1 next to a nice guy called Steve, who at this point was a 'Ray virgin'. We were later joined by Spudgun, Brian and Pricey

As I've said before, you can set your watch by these rays, and sure enough one and a half hours before low Steve's rod arched over and in came his first ray  a beauty at 8lbs 6oz   Well done mate I'm made up for you ;)

Image

Image

Next it was Jon's turn with a ray of 7lbs 1oz (?) Well done mate  On the board there Jon!

Image

Next it was Brian's turn....... no photo I'm afraid..... his was about 4lbs (?) Well done mate

Next it was my turn.......6lbs 8ozs......

Image

There was no stopping Steve now his virginity was lost.... 5lbs 5ozs

Image

After this things got a little weird to say the least :o ........

Poor old Pricey hooked into a good ray that had the potential to be the biggest of the night but he lost it as it surfaced  unlucky Neil

Next I saw my rod whack, then Steve saw it whack, and I had one on only to lose it in a snag about 30yds out in the strong current, which resulted in a crack-off  ...... then Brian had one on only to lose his close in as well

I think everyone had a tale to tell tonight ;)

i'm still sulking   did still get 2 but best was only 6-4 ,but the lost fish would of been well over 10lb, the bow waves of it on the surface were massive and it was heavy to move even when on the top,i hate fishing

Unlucky Neil, once they are on the surface it's usually job done, the current swings them in and you just walk along the beach and pick them up. I'd be absolutely gutted losing one like that

Neil, I know exactly how you feel    I was down there again tonight with Brian and I hooked into what had to be the fish of a lifetime just on low. Massive double pulldown followed by my rods and rest going seawards. Couldn't stop it in time and it straightened my 2/0 hook.

On a lighter note...

I pulled in what I thought was a huge ray. It turned out to be a 4lb ray on my rig and I'd also pulled in Brian's crack-off from earlier with a 6 to 7lb ray on plus all his weight/rig etc

Probably would have been my biggest ray aswell but it wasn't a crack off the fish was on and my line snaped  but luckely Richie caught it so it could be released safely ;)
The carack off was latter
