Merseyside..........Eastham (High water mark)

Postby FishingFreakJack » Tue Jan 25, 2011 7:25 pm

Eastham is a good venue in October and November. The fishing can be mixed if there are no whitening as the codling feed mainly on this. The best rigs are pullys with rotten bottoms as it can be snaggy close in.

Winter fishing:
.Codling 1.5-3.5lb
.The odd flounder
.Occasional dab

Summer fishing:

The best baits in the winter are frozen black and squid but crab can be good as the sport slackens off in January and February.
If you are just scratching a 2 hook flapper is the best with 1/0 hook so if you do get a coddie then the chances of getting it it are much higher.
If you are fishing just for a coddie then a single hook pully is best.

You can fish off the big jetty which produces the most off the catches.

To get to the jetty from Liverpool...

10. Go past Asda and look out for a Factory called candy on the left hand side of the road you cant miss it it right next to a set of lights.
11. Turn left at the set of lights by candy onto Old Hall road.
12. When you meet the roundabout at the end of old hall road take the 2nd exit onto Riverwood Road.
13. At the end of Riverwood road there is a second roundabout. Again like the last one take the 2nd exit.
14. Once you have gone to the end of the road there is a car park where you park.
15. There is a little foot path on the left hand side of the car park walk down here and you will see the big jetty.

Here are just some pictures of what eastham can produce

If i may add a little more info...

Plain leads will catch 50% more fish. I know i may seem a bold comment but its true, many a day have a failed to catch at the same distances with the same baits on the gripper rod unlike the plain lead rod.

There is also another little mark on these rocks.

To get there go left at the car park and follow the green railing for 150-200 yards then you will see a gate. Go through the gate and down the steps and you will see the rocks. Big casting is not needed but plain leads and wellies are as it is muddy but not deep so no worries. On a 25/24ft tide you can fish on the rocks all of the way up to hw from lw and can produce some good fish. I also like to double patt here as you may only have 5 mins of good fishing time in one session and is unpredictable and you will need to get another bait in ASAP
