Merseyside----Woodside ferry/ Pilots pontoon (High and low)

Postby Simon » Wed Aug 06, 2008 2:03 pm

Would of given details in my reports but diddnt know before if fishing was allowed here.

Parking is by the U-Boat just past woodside business park, or if you ask the security guard nicely he should let you park in the woodside area itself.

At the bottom of woodside is an arch going through to the dock wall, just to the left of the pilots pontoon. There's some good conger here falling to squid and mackeral baits.

Dont fish too close to the pontoon or you will loose loads of rigs to the chains holding the pontoon. A gentle 20yrd cast is all thats needed and anything over 60yrd puts you into deep water and a very strong tidal pull.

This mark can be fished all states of the tide but the best results have been when the light starts to fade.

Plenty of lighting here and very little "youth" activity make it a safe and comfortable spot. The security guard likes a good chin wag every hour or so as he passes

It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.
