This relatively flat, sandy, blow lug laden, snag free beach is situated about 1/2 mile north of Crosby Baths. It is very much a Jeckyll and Hyde venue,as it can give some excellent bass and cod fishing, but you can also run up a lot of blanks.Other species present include flounder, eels, rockling and in autumn dogs and whiting, though not in great numbers.
Fishing is from a spacious railed promenade situated just 10yds from the ample parking. It can get pretty busy during spring/summer,and is very popular with walkers e.t.c.
Best fished from 2 hours before high water on tides in excess of 28ft.In winter fresh black lug takes some beating for the codling.Summer bass will also take black or the local blow lug.Fresh peeler will take more flounders, but you`ll be better to save such a bait for elsewhere. Though it`s mainly fished from the prom, you will often get the best of the cod n bass action by starting off the beach around 3 hours before high water.
You will find toilets on site, and in spring/summer there`s usually an ice cream van plus a burger van
From Liverpool head towards Crosby, picking up the A565....go over the flyover..keep going ahead....go past the lights with the Liver pub on the corner...at the next main lights, turn left onto College rd (Merchant Taylor school on corner)...follow to roundabout and turn left on to Mersey rd...follow to next roundabout and turn right on to Warren Road..follow to the end then turn left on to the Serpentine North... after the right bend this road becomes Burbo Bank Road North..follow this along the sea front til you come to a sharp right bend..turn in left here (coastguard station) and bob`s your uncle.
This section gives info on venues which are suitable for anglers who don`t like to,or can`t walk too far. They are also suitable/safe for eldery, disabled or young anglers
