Preview Final Round Cymyran Bay Sunday October 12th

Postby Big Kev » Mon Sep 29, 2014 4:55 pm

This superb beach is the venue for our last summer league match, and offers a range of features/ground conditions/gullies/bays/flat sections over which you can target turbot very close in on strips of mack ,sandeel , squid or ragworm....thornback and small eyed rays (bonus fish) are generally taken on sandeel, though they will also take mack, squid and ragworm...bass also take sandeel and worm baits....flounders,whiting,dogs and coalies also show,so there`s a wide variety to fish for. Chest waders will give you better options if you are fishing from the flatter section and need to get your baits out as far as poss.
**As turbot are such lovely little fellas, they will have a 20cm qualifying length for this match...everything else remains at 25cm**

I found fishing limpet into the river mouth on a single 10/0 produces the best results Kev

Zip all your bags up a night to avoid the horrible critters

Rubbish pic but the pic below you can see the empty gully and the little island we were fishing on till it started filling up! When it does fill you can walk along the beach to avoid it, Its the part near the estuary that seems to be really deep, Depending on the size of the tide you COULD stay the whole tide on that little island but i dont know what size tide? One ray was caught in this "hot spot" the rest of the rays were caught by ian and gra, gazz further along the beach

Take it easy on the track down to the bay,as it`s "lumpy" ,and if your car rides low,you will scrape your exhaust.
Make sure you park on virgin ground to avoid coming back to a flooded motor
