Preview Round 7 Pwllheli Beach 17/8/14

Postby Big Kev » Sun Jul 13, 2014 12:14 pm

Black bream are our target species for this one and as they are often small,we have reduced the required limit to 20cm...everything else remains at 25cm to qualify. You are only allowed to record 2 dogs (50cm for each) and 2 mackeral (30cm for each) in this match.
Venue/directions HERE
We are fishing at the golf course end where the beach is shallower but has more features....booking in will be from 10am until 10.30am...once on the prom, just drive towards the golf course and park at the end of Rhodfa Marian Y Mor
Please do not bring the correct entry fee...£20 notes will be fine

There's also been rumour (unconfirmed) that a tope was landed off the beach. Whole Mackey baits, size 10/0 hooks is the way to go boys!

The welsh federation had the qualifiers for the national teams there weekend before last , they had gars bream wrasse etc, but wasn't a fantastic amount caught. The 3 herrings have there open on Saturday which usually attract some big time match anglers, but fishes poorly most years. I unfortunately won't make Pwllheli so tight lines lads. My advice would be small hooks on loooong , light snood with pop ups on , small ragworm and mackerel baits for the garfish, or casting floats. Good luck.

Things can change so fast and it's the kind of venue that can produce after a good blow up tight lines

The Three Herrings run Pwllheli open was fished yesterday and was pretty poor.... the winner managed to find a couple of bream, second place was a dog and 3rd was another bream.....they fished a couple of hours either side of low water on a spring tide, whereas we are doing the either side of high on a mid range tide ,so lets hope that makes the difference

It will make all the difference Kev, don't know why they run it over Low. With it blowing up this week there will be more dogs and good chance of Huss, bass and flounders
