Its a fishing thing I reckon Bill, like john says the majority of people you meet through out your life are nice, respectable and decent but still most won't be willing to meet up with a stranger at 3am in a tesco carpark then share a car halfway across the country its just not the societal norm
Whereas in the fishing community its just happens and is in ways, almost expected.
I have a few other hobbies but I wouldn't publicly offer a lift to a event of any nature, it just doesn't happen.
Maybe we like the stories of the one that got away or picking up information off people you otherwise wouldn't meet who knows
On that note I'll have space in my car
Ah. But. One of my other hobbies involves driving around the country and also involves a forum.
I have picked up "strangers" at stupid o'clock and driven to Scotland and The East of England, like we would to go fishing.
Maybe it's a forum thing, if that's the case then people ( strangers ) are meeting all the time to go to exhibitions, fishing, airshows, classic car meets, birdwatching , Events , concerts and loads of stuff.
It kind of is the norm in the Internet and social media age, people are meeting like minded strangers all over the place.
