Postby Adam Roper » Thu Oct 13, 2016 4:45 pm

Here's the runners and riders for this years Winter League. But who is your money on?????

1. Adam Roper - Last years winner but a poor Summer League by his standards. 3/1
2. Brian Roper - Only here for the first 6 matches so is going to have to pull out all the stops. 6/1
3. Kev Brindle - Back on the scene after messing about on the river. Knows the marks like the back of his hand. 3/1
4. Dylan Kensall - Welsh Wizard with wacky wellies who made an impact in the Summer League. 8/1
5. Gaz Taylor - Could figure if he makes all the matches. 10/1
6. Shaun Milner - Kayak master but can he do it from the shore. 9/1
7. Steve Duffy - Secret rigs and blanched worm at the ready. Commitment second to none. 7/1
8. Richie Fisher - Clue's in the name. Big fish angler who is suited to this format, could be up there. 5/1
9. Ozzie - Newcomer who is yet to fish. Unknown quantity. 14/1
10. Jimmy Howarth - Some good performances in the Summer League and keen as mustard. 8/1
11. Millsy - In it for the crack and not likely to fish all the matches, making it difficult. 14/1
12. Maerig Darley - The bloke who lives in Stoke and loves a joke, but will his fishing go up in smoke? 12/1
13. Andy Wilmore - Improving every series and loves his match fishing. 8/1
14. Andy Jenkins - Consistent performer last year with a couple of wins. Potential contender. 8/1
15. Gaz Williams - Rumour has it he will smile if he wins a match. 12/1
16. Mike Davis - Newcomer who fished with us a few times as a guest. 14/1
17. Ian Christopherson - Has to fish all of the matches to figure. 14/1
18 Greg Barratt - Anything could happen and it usually does! 12/1
19. Dale Edwards - This postman consistently delivered in the Summer League. Will definitely be up there. 3/1
20. Lee Hobbs - Has shown what he can do on his day. 6/1
21. Roy Schofield - Consistent performer with local knowledge to burn. Real contender. 3/1
22. Niges123 - Needs to fish all of the matches to figure. 14/1
23. Andrew Hoyle - Another newcomer with unknown potential. 14/1
24. Graeme Stuart - Showed he can put fish on the bank in recent matches. 8/1
25. Stu Davies - Did well in last years Winter League when he fished. 7/1
26. Piotrek - Another debutant who put up a decent length in the last Summer League match. 9/1
27. Graham Godfrey - Definite contender but attendance could be an issue. 7/1
28. Alex Colston - Debutant who will need to adapt to the format. 14/1
29. Dave Roberts - Summer League champion. All the gear and a few decent ideas! Bang on Form. 2/1
30. Jordan Roberts - Schooled by the current Summer League champion and a good angler in his own right. 6/1
31. Dave Radcliffe - King of finding Dabs when it matters. Class angler who always produces. 3/1
32. Steve Streetly - Another newcomer from the North Wales coast brigade. 14/1
33. Jeff White - Debutant which means he will be keen as mustard. 14/1
34. Ian Welsh - Has been a consistent contender when he has fished. 6/1
35. Dave McCreedy - Has put in some good performances in previous matches. 8/1
36. Steve Atkinson - Another debutant who could do anything. 14/1
37. Nickswa - Newcomer who could want to make his mark. 14/1
38. Ste Trish - Top class match angler who will always be up there. 3/1
39. Ste Trish Jnr - If he is a chip off the old block then could be one to watch. 8/1.

Little bit of fun in the spirit it is intended  Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand let the banter commence

Surely the Perch Rock match will be won with a dab n thorny combo,or maybe a dab n dog combo,or a dab n codling combo or a dab n whiting combo.Do you go all out for a thorny from the start or try for the often elusive dab early doors.I`ll be dab hunting from the off and hope to nab one before the main ray feeding period.

If you can stand up straight and and believe when you cast your bait
If you can hold steadfast with worm on your hook
While others indulge in sandeel squid wraps and crab and bluey
If you can ignore triple headers of dabs, and rays being pulled in all around
And keep focussed on more noble quarry and keep faith in God
Then you'll be a true fisherman my friend,
And maybe, just maybe, at Vale park
You'll catch a cod!
2018 species: nothing yet as I havent managed to get out. Sad :(
